Dr. Julia A. Dyer, M.D., MPH, founder of Dyer GI Clinics of Illinois, has been a practicing gastroenterologist for 25 years.

The GI focus areas at the Clinics include removal of hemorrhoids, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anal fissures, nutrition management, and anal dysplasia (HPV).

A native Chicagoan and a graduate of Chicago Public Schools, Dr. Dyer received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a Master of Public Health degree in Health Management from the University of Illinois-School of Public Health. Dr. Dyer received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) and completed her medical residency at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Dyer then completed her post-graduate fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition at The University of Chicago.

Dr. Dyer is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and has been an appointed staff gastroenterologist at numerous hospitals throughout the Chicago area. She has served in every position on hospital medical staff Executive Boards, from ombudsman to president.

Dr. Dyer has served in the public sector as well. She was Medical Director of the Chicago Park District, Deputy Director and Medical Deputy Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Dr. Dyer is a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Roosevelt University College of Mathematics and Science. Dr. Dyer has developed and implemented numerous health-related projects at the community, city, and state levels, including creating the first-ever Illinois Department of Public Health Men's Health Fair, Facilitator-World Aids Day-State House, Illinois Women's Health Campaign, chairperson-Alzheimer's Disease Peer Review Panel, chairperson-Breast and Cervical Cancer Advisory Panel, Illinois participant-U.S. Olympic Committee Project Gold, and Chicago's first children's health fair-Sound Health, Sound Kids.

Dr. Dyer is the proud recipient of both the Women of Vision Award-Prevent Blindness America, and the Outstanding Woman Leader of the Year Award for Science and Medicine-DuPage County YWCA.

Dr. Dyer is a member of the design team and Advisory Board of the newly created Daniel Hale Williams Prep School of Medicine, one of the Chicago Public Schools small schools awarded funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
