About Dr. Julia A. Dyer

          Dr. Julia A. Dyer M.D., MPH is a Gastroenterologist at Thorek Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois holding  over 30 years of experience, including years of private practice at Dyer GI Clinics of Illinois.  As a native Chicagoan, Dr. Julia Dyer received her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Illinois-Chicago. After receiving her Doctor of Medicine from the University of California Los Angeles, she completed her medical residency in internal medicine at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Dyer would then go on to completing her post-graduate fellowship  in Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition at The University of Chicago before receiving her Master of Public Health degree in Health Resources Management from the University of Illinois School of Public Health in Chicago. 

 

Outside the Office

          Dr. Dyer is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and has been an appointed staff gastroenterologist at numerous hospitals throughout the Chicago area. She has served in every position on hospital medical staff executive boards from ombudsman to president.

Dr. Dyer has been an active adjunct faculty member at the college and University level, including work at Benedictine University, Roosevelt University, and 5 years as visiting faculty at Dalian University in China.  Dr. Dyer is the proud recipient of both the Women of Vision Award-Prevent Blindness America, and the Outstanding Woman Leader of the Year Award for Science and Medicine-DuPage County YWCA.
